This is the first guitar built with the Urban Ash tonewood, a locally sourced, responsibly collected species of ash that Taylor obtains from downed city trees. With a grain structure all its own, Urban Ash serves up presence and punch in the middle frequencies balanced by a warm low end and pristine treble notes, all with a fundamental-strong sound largely free of overtones.
A solid mahogany top helps even out a strong attack for a balanced, clear response, while V-Class bracing optimizes the top’s vibration to help generate louder volume and longer sustain.
This Grand Auditorium was designed from the ground up for the player’s comfort, with an armrest, bevelled cutaway and rolled body and fretboard edges making this model feel truly accommodating. ES2 electronics capture the unique tone of Urban Ash and translate it beautifully for plugged-in settings, while the included deluxe hardshell case protects the guitar from humidity effects and physical damage.
